  Hand & Reconstructive Surgery

HOSMAT Plastic, Reconstructive, Microvascular, hand and cosmetic is a unit specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The proximity of the operative facilities allows close co-operation between surgeons, therapists and nurses, offering the patient the quality care and HOSMAT has two hand specialists-A full time Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon and a Plastic Hand Surgeon.

The Clinic is a surgical speciality practice, dedicated to provide state-of-the-art evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care to patients with problems of the upper extremity and hand.

HOSMAT Hand and Reconstructive Surgery Centre was started by Dr. Thomas A Chandy - Director & Chief of Orthopaedics.

Till recently, hand problems were managed by all surgeons. With the advent of microsurgery and enhanced knowledge of the mechanics of hand function, Hand surgery as a speciality began to evolve. Plastic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons were attracted to this field. Better results are now obtained when surgeons who are trained in Hand surgery, deal with the problems of the hand.
The Hand and Microsurgery Department at HOSMAT Hospital, belongs to this small growing group. It introduced Reconstructive Microsurgery to this region. Your hands need the quality care when they have a problem.

HOSMAT has one of the best physiotherapy centres and hand rehabilitation and occupational therapy units in the country, as also very modern orthotic and prosthetic centre for hand splints and orthotic and artificial hands and limbs.
